those dogs
that are desired

after i “rescued” you

in my peaceful home
so hard
i almost gave you back to them
i’m pleased to know
i didn’t have the heart
to do it
one day you will die

Lulu will mourn if you go first. I once thought it was because dogs didn't understand––but perhaps they understand all too well.
